Russian-Georgian War

On August 8, 2008, the Russian-Georgian war, fully planned and organized by Moscow, begins. And although the hot phase of this war lasts only a few days, even in such a short period of time, Russian troops are committing many war crimes.

In particular, deliberate shelling of settlements and civilian infrastructure, torture and ill-treatment of prisoners of war, ethnic cleansing, destruction of property of the Georgian population, and others.

It is also worth mentioning that Russia continues to commit war crimes in Georgia today, as humanitarian law applies to South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which are occupied by Russia, during international armed conflicts.
