Constitution of Ukraine

Constitution of Ukraine

On June 28, 1996, the Basic Law – the Constitution of Ukraine – is adopted.

Man, their life and health, honor and dignity, inviolability and security are recognized as the highest social value, and the state is obliged to be accountable to citizens for its activities.

It is interesting that even then the autonomous status of the Crimean peninsula is approved, despite the protests of the right wing of deputies.

The Ukrainian language is defined as the only state language, which fully corresponds to the state-building role of the Ukrainian nation, which historically lives on the territory of Ukraine, makes up the vast majority of its population, and gave the state its official name.

At the same time, the Constitution of Ukraine guarantees the free development, use, and protection of Russian and other languages of national minorities of Ukraine (which remains unchanged to this day).
